The Brian M. Mooney Cadet Squadron, formerly known as Suffolk Cadet Squadron 5, is a Cadet Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, the United States Air Force Auxiliary, located in Shirley, Long Island, NY.

The Squadron was renamed on the Congressional Record by the Honorable Timothy Bishop on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in memory of Cadet 1st Lieutenant Brian M. Mooney who helped shape and mold the squadron into what it is today.

Civil Air Patrol, the official Air Force Auxiliary, is a nonprofit organization. It performs more than 85 percent of inland search and rescue missions in the continental United States as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center. Volunteers also take a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to America's youth. For more information about the Brian M.
